MY STORY:
I grew up in Lodi CA and am the middle child of three sisters. I had an amazing family and enjoyed playing with my sisters and hanging out with my parents. Life was good, but it wasn't without struggle. I was shy, awkward, had trouble making friends, and was scared of EVERYTHING.
School was NOT my thing... I lost my homework, had trouble paying attention in class, didn't understand concepts, and had to get loads of outside tutoring (which didn't really help). I decided to channel my energy into puzzles, computer games, and sewing and by the time I was 13, I started creating and designing my own clothes. |
All throughout high school I was obsessed with fashion design and would spend countless hours cutting and sewing dresses that I would wear to school and church. People told me I was extremely gifted and I believed that I was one day going to become a famous designer. At age 15 I was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD and was put on a number of different "focus drugs". I always felt stupid and different from the other kids, so I befriended the weirdos in school and started underage drinking and smoking pot. My parents didn't like that so they sent me off to Southern CA to attend a community college.
I was never passionate about school, even when I enrolled in the fashion program at Fullerton college, it didn't hold my attention and I soon dropped out. I kept my grades up, but that was mostly due to the fact that I was taking a lot of adderall. In the meantime, I played around with a lot of odd jobs, and focused most of my attention on having a good time. I picked up a few new hobbies and fell in love with photography, thrift shopping, working out, and cooking.
Courtney Murata and I founded Hakuna Murata in 2015.
In 2016 we relocated to Beaverton OR.
In 2017 I opened my food truck as a solo business owner.
It's 2018 and I have almost completed my first year in Oregon.
This past year we have done: Concerts at the Zoo, Festivals, Local events, Farmers markets, Breweries, Business offices, and Private catering.

My goal is to continue my food truck business until I am able to expand and open a restaurant. In the future I want to own a chain of Hakuna Murata restaurants, where I can care for and serve my employees and customers.
